Lecture 5: Statistics of Ion Detection,
Data Handling and Automation

Generating high precision isotope ratio measurements also requires an understanding of counting statistics, mass fractionation, and amplifier biases that govern the ultimate precision to which an isotope ratio can be determined. In this presentation, methods of dealing with these issues are presented, as applied to single and multiple collector isotope ratio measurements.

You can download the lecture as either a PowerPoint presentation or as a PDF.

The issue of mass fractionation corrections are dealt with in more detailed in this PDF, also provided by Bill Olszewski.
